The teaching of MFL fosters the pupils' curiosity and their understanding of the world around them. At Portway Junior School, our French curriculum encourages the child's linguistic competence, extends their knowledge of how language works and explores differences and similarities between the foreign language French and English. Our French curriculum provides a medium for cross-curricular links and for reinforcement of knowledge, skills and understanding in other subjects. Moreover, it brings awareness of our multi-lingual and multi-cultural world, supporting diversity within society. Our vision for MFL is to develop lifelong learners by providing the pupils with a valuable educational, social and cultural experience in MFL.
