Art and design

Our Art curriculum at Portway Junior School engages, inspires and challenges pupils, encouraging children to exercise their creativity and imagination. These memorable and engaging opportunities allow children to apply the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. Thinking critically, children will learn how art and design reflects and shapes our history. This is a key life skill, encouraging children to become lifelong learners with lasting independence. Through the progression of skills from years 3-6, children will develop a critical understanding of the impact of art on daily life and the contribution to the culture, creativity and wealth of our nation.
